For all of the Argentine shows the band used a stage with a KISS logo backdrop except for the first that brought "Leon" the Sphinx out of retirement. On the September 5, at the much smaller Obras Stadium, the band threw "Got To Choose" back into the set list, a song that was seemingly finding some favor in the band. KISS, however, played an incredibly varied set list that saw the return of "Rock And Roll All Nite" to the set list. At the first show at River Plate, for around 50,000 metal fans, two people died jumping from the top of the stadium. Initially the band played two shows, on September 3 and 5. The band played Chile on September 1 before heading to Argentina for the first time since their planned tour in 1983 fell through. Rumors started circulating that Gene had had dinner with Diana Ross the previous night.
The following day the band left Brazil for Chile. This show was professionally filmed and was released as one of the bonus DVDs for the band's "Kissology Volume 3" package in 2007. During the first show, in Sao Paulo (8/27), KISS took to the stage and played a powerful and varied set that ended with "Heaven's On Fire" rather than "Rock And Roll All Nite," something of an oddity for the band. KISS arrived in Brazil on August 25 and stayed at the Maksoud Plaza Hotel. So we thought it was very important, sooner or later, to get down there and show people what they've been hearing about" (Strike #34). The only place we've ever played in South America was Rio, Sao Paolo, and Belo Horizante in Brazil. Gene was excited about the shows commenting, "We're looking forward to it. These demonstrate a powerful and synched band.

The state that the band was in at the time is well demonstrated through widely available excellent radio broadcasts of "Heaven's On Fire" and "I Was Made For Lovin' You," in addition to the full bootlegged shows that circulate. The band played a total of eight dates between the August 27 and September 16. On August 6 Gene appeared as a special guest announcer at the End Fest in Seattle where he also jammed with the band Satchel during their cover of "Deuce." By the end of the month KISS was slated to play the Monsters Of Rock tour with Black Sabbath, Slayer, and Manowar. August 1994 can be seen as something of an intermission between the two periods. The promotional events the band made in support of "KISS My Ass" essentially led directly into what became the 'unplugged' era. By 2003 Universal Music International reported international sales of over 305,000 of the album (Billboard, 8/9/03). It has sold over 305,000 (3/12) copies during the SoundScan(r) era. "MTV Unplugged" was certified gold by the RIAA on 10/18/96.
